Allentown Toyota Looks at the Promising Advancements in Auto Tech

The auto industry is making significant strides with technology. It is hard for many of us to keep up, but it is going to take off whether we are ready for it or not. Technology in the auto industry is improving the ride, connectivity, range, and safety. By 2020, the cars we know now will transform dramatically, and yes, we may finally see autonomous rides. Allentown Toyota looks at promising advancements in auto tech. 1. Un-manned driver Autonomous vehicles are dominating the headlines. From commuter cars to tractor trailers, auto manufacturers are perfecting technology that removes the driver and relies on technology to drive, park, and make decisions to avoid car crashes. The goal of self-driving cars is to improve emissions and road conditions, and to decrease car accidents. Cars will be equipped with lasers, sensors, and processing features that detect threats and take steps to avoid a collision. This will remove the driver, whose errors contribute to the most car accidents. 2. Four-banger performance rides Ford has already embraced the 4-cylinder in its iconic muscle car—the Ford Mustang. More performance car manufacturers will do the same in the near future. A 4-cylinder can be supercharged and configured to kick out 200 hp or 600 hp. 3. Impressive body panels In just 35 years, a majority of vehicles rolling off the line will likely be hybrids. This means manufacturers are working tirelessly to increase efficiency and reduce vehicle weight. Toyota is already engineering body panels that collect energy from the sun and store it in the body panels.   Another advancement in body-panel design is reconfigurable panels. SUVs can become trucks just by removing and retracting lightweight panels. The design would give drivers the space of an SUV and the hauling capacity of a pickup.

Allentown Toyota Has Tips for Choosing a Safe Rest Stop

Rest areas are a staple along US highways and are life savers when you need to stretch your legs, use the restroom or grab a snack. Unfortunately crimes like theft, car-jacking, drug dealing and more have taken place in these areas, causing many people to worry when they are making a pit stop. Allentown Toyota has tips for choosing a safe rest stop so you don't encounter any dangerous situations on the road. Be Alert When you pull into a rest stop, be aware of your surroundings. Make a mental note of the name of the stop, or maybe the nearest mile marker. This way if an emergency arises, you can tell your location to the police. Stay away from people who look like they're lingering around the bathrooms and parking lots, because they may be looking to rob someone or worse. Never park next to a big truck, because they can block your view of the parking lot. Safe rest areas will be designed in a rectangle shape with hardly any walls or shrubbery that people can hide behind. Go to the Light When areas are well-lit, it can be a major deterrent for criminals. Not only should the building be well-lit, but the parking lot as well. When it is night time, stay away from the outskirts of the area, like woods, picnic tables or trails. This is where a lot of illegal activity takes place. Choose a Busy Place Rest stop crimes often take place after dark, especially if it is empty and desolate. If you are traveling in the evening, especially alone, and need to stop, choose a buy place. Look for stops that have a fast-food restaurant inside that is well-staffed.

Bennett Toyota Loves Toyota's New Restroom App!

Japanese drivers now have a new app to help them find a restroom. Macungie area Toyota is proud to announce that Toyota now has an app called Restroom Finder, that will help motorists find an appropriate restroom. This is important because it specifically addresses those with disabilities and special needs who have trouble finding accommodations. About the Restroom Finder Applicable The app gives the driver specific details about different facilities such as whether or not there is easy access for those with wheelchairs. The app spans a large variety of service areas, and Welcab Stations by Toyota are included. So far, the app gives information in the Tokai region and three prefectures within it: Mie, Aichi and Gifu. The app guides users with routes to facilities that fit the parameters within these regions. Advice was sought about what kind of information should be collected and provided by the non-profit group, Iseshima Barrier Free Tour Center. They supervised the development of the app based on how they interpret “personal barrier-free standards”. How the App Works Restroom Finder works with the Toyota-T Connect telematics system and Lexus G-Link telematics system. Those with special needs can find restrooms on public roads and highways. The app filters search results by user needs or facility type, which includes the presence of care beds and location of handrails, ostomate facilities and diaper-changing tables. Facilities cab also be added as en route stops or another destination if it has already been set into the initial navigation screen. Get Summer Road Trip Ready with Some Tips from Your Toyota Dealer

Summer vacation is almost upon us, which means you’re probably already planning some fun trips with your family. Whether you’re planning to drive across town or you’re planning to drive across the country, it’s a good idea to take the necessary steps to get good and ready for the fun times that lie ahead. Get summer road trip ready with some tips from your Toyota dealer near Emmaus. Maintenance Before any trip it is a good idea to get your vehicle serviced. This would include checking out the tires, the battery, all fluids, all belts and hoses, the windshield wipers, and the air conditioner. You will have peace of mind that your family will be safe and happy once you get all of these things taken care of. Of course if you have any known issues with anything you should get those taken care of as well. Emergency Kit Before any trip is a good time to update and replenish your vehicle’s emergency kit. A good emergency kit should consist of things like jumper cables, extra fluids, a spare tire, tools, a flashlight, road flares, and a fire extinguisher. You should have extra clothing and warm items like gloves, socks, and a blanket. First aid kits are very important, too, and should include things like bandages, creams, ointments, and pain medicine. Keep a supply of water, non-perishable food items, wet wipes, and paper towels. Carry a car charger for your cell phone.

Get Some Good Summer Driving Advice from Bennett Toyota

It’s almost time to get ready for summer vacation, which means it’s time to get your vehicle ready, too. There are quite a few things that you should check out. Get some good summer driving advice from your Macungie area Toyota dealer. Tires Your tires have probably suffered a lot of wear and tear after a long winter, and before the summer begins is the perfect time to fix them up. Start by assessing any damage. Never hesitate to replace a tire that has something wrong with it. Check the pressure levels on each one of your tires, and adjust them to the correct levels. Get an Oil Change Before the summer is a good time to get an oil change and possibly adjust the grade of your oil. This is sometimes necessary because when oil warms up from the hot summer temperatures it will thin out, which could lead to the engine not getting the proper lubrication that it needs. If you use oil that is a bit thicker it could easily solve the problem. Belts and Hoses Definitely check that all belts and hoses are in good condition. If you can’t remember the last time that you had them changed, it is probably a good time to do it. Air Conditioner You definitely don’t want to get stuck without an air conditioner, so it’s a good idea to check that it’s working well before it gets too hot outside.
